Rush Limbaugh's Ignorance strikes again
One of the people at the Anti-CNP site posted this important piece of information today:
Dear Click Back America Members,
Last Wednesday, Rush Limbaugh crossed the line. The torture at the
Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq has been universally decried by both
Democrats and Republicans as inhumane, and the fall out has
dramatically increased the danger to our troops. But according to
Rush Limbaugh, what happened was no worse than what we college
students do every day.
Tell Rush Limbaugh to apologize for using students to excuse torture:
http://www.clickbackamerica.org/petition1.php?id=25
Last week Limbaugh told his estimated 20 million listeners that the
torture was exactly like “a college fraternity prank that stacked up
naked men”, and that it was “no different than what happens at the
Skull and Bones initiation [an Ivy league secret society] …ever heard
of blowing off steam!?!?”
Limbaugh is trying to use us, students and fraternities, to
trivialize these atrocities. Campus pranks and voluntary initiation
rituals bear no resemblance to the illegal acts of sexual torture we
have seen coming out of Iraq. We will not be used as part of Rush’s
political game.
This is not a joke. As John Warner, the Republican chairman of the
Senate Armed Services Committee said, these events will seriously
hurt “the conduct of the war against terrorism, and place in jeopardy
the men and women of the armed forces wherever they are serving in
the world.” Limbaugh’s reckless comments, broadcast across the globe,
will only serve to make that danger worse.
Limbaugh must apologize on air for his comments. Fraternities do not
violate international law by raping and torturing political
prisoners, and what happened in Iraq was not “blowing off steam.”
Limbaugh is not used to accountability. It's about time he found out
what it feels like.

Today is the 50th anniversary of Brown vs. Board of Education
Or so I've been told. This is when people were fighting for equal
rights. Their rights were restricted simply because of their color.
After Brown won, southern governmental officials made the "Southern
Manifesto". This is when ignorant people blocked the ways to
education screaming "Segregation now, segregation forever".
49 years later. 2 consenting adults were arrested in the bedroom for
acts that were illegal in their state. The supreme court ruled in the
2 men's favor. Pat Robertson was obviously angry, he would rather
have 2 consenting men sent to jail rather than child murderers. So he
started "Operation Judicial Freedom", wishing ill upon the Supreme
Court Justices. Recently Justice Souter was attacked while he was
jogging. Souter, although a Republican voted against Bush in the
Election Trial and supports separation of Church and State. Call me
crazy, but I wonder if Robertson had something to do with the attack
on him.
But isn't it funny how history repeats itself?

John Ashcroft may face probe
Ashcroft by the way is a former member of the CNP and so has CNP links.
Boston.com: "The Justice Department's Public Integrity Section is examining whether violations identified by the FEC warrant a full criminal investigation. If such a probe is launched, it could be handed to a special counsel to avoid conflicts of interest... The FEC determined in December that Ashcroft's former political action committee, Spirit of America, and his Senate reelection committee violated campaign finance laws by renting out a mailing list that resulted in an excessive, unreported $110,000 contribution. The two committees agreed to pay a $37,000 fine. But several watchdog groups, including the National Voting Rights Institute and Public Citizen, have been pushing for a broader investigation... 'Either Ashcroft owns the list or he doesn't. If he owns the list, then he didn't disclose it anywhere,' said Lisa Danetz, staff attorney for the National Voting Rights Institute. 'If he doesn't own it, then he was personally involved in a sham transaction.' "
